    Description

    A very charming painting from  Buddhist Thai Manuscript or Samut Koi.  The painting is painted on the typical "Khoi"pulp paper and is of the first half of 19th century, Bangkok Period.
    Although the majority of Buddhist Thai Manuscript paintings are dedicated to Guatama Buddha's life, particularly the last Ten Birth Tales, and the legend of the monk Pera Malai.  Other manuscript paintings have been found with the illustrations of other subjects such as Buddhist cosmology, funeral ceremonies, meditation practices and Buddhist monks' daily life.
    The scene in the manuscript painting above shown the devotees receiving blessing from the Buddhist monks.
    Painting measures apron. 11"  x  5.5" in a very good condition.  The painting is set inside a glass box frame with silk mat and gold leaf wooden frame.
    Frame measures  16" x  10.25"     Silk mat  has 1.75"width
    The inside frame has minor chips (please see photo)  There is also a slight stain on the silk mat as shown in photo.
