Fine and rare antique Thai tempera scroll banner, painted on cloth depicting the Buddha with his hand raised in a gesture of teaching (vitarka mudra) as a pair of monks listen attentively.  Traditional period temple banner for display in palace or wealthy mansion.  Scroll supported on each end by a pair of wooden rollers with antique carved wooden Thai finials, the image of the Bodhisattva standing on a lotus in a flowing songsket skirt with jewels and multiple bracelets and armbands, collar with epaulets and a high crown. The wooden rollers with finials measures 31 1/2" at the top and 36" at the bottom and the scroll itself measures 68 1/2" long by 27 1/4" wide.
