Clocked is the 18th c word for Embroidered, as they would have been made over 200 years ago. Our design is inwoven with a white heel for shaped strength..The Stockings are very soft and durable and the Clocking will be a touch more dramatic as you pull them on. Perfect for Working Colonials, Dress marches and English Country Dance! You will find no better quality out there, trust me. I  am a juried sutler.
Our Stockings are 32" long measured from top to toe and will clearly go up over your knee as needed when wearing breeches  for men and petticoats for women.  The finely ribbed cuff has a touch of elastic to keep Stockings up on your leg without use of gaiters/garters, and a have a fitted and reinforced toe/heel area to prevent uncomfortable bunching in marching boots or dancing shoes.  As you may know, "socks" is a modern word, and knitted stockings is the period correct definition of 18th c leg wear.
These are pure soft cotton to the touch, in a solid two tonal color, for an all-purpose work or dressy effect that matches most colonial outfit colors of Georgian tones. They enhance almost any outfit with their subtle, period correct form and appearance. In colonial times when men's leg wear was of importance, these portray the correct representation. They are proudly made in America on antique restored machinery and period perfect for the 2020 all- season ahead. Striking and crisp are 2 words that come to mind about this product.
