Description
Beautiful Reproduction of an 18th C Women's Riding/Traveling Outfit. This sale includes a silk neckscarf and a vintage linen/lace trimmed neckerchief. This outfit was made by me using the venerable JP Ryan Reenactor pattern.
It was called "my head turner!" as people seemed to love to see a woman dressing in this type of smart looking outfit- and
now it could be yours!
We are downsizing in preparation to travel full time in an RV and I simply must part with most of my 35+ yrs of living history reenacting treasures. This is one of my all time favorite items that I ever made.
NOTE: This is being sold as a complete outfit kit only.
Please do not ask me to break up this ensemble-I will not!
FREE SHIPPING in the contiguous lower 48 US states only.
More about the whole outfit
......(I am 5'6" and at the time wearing this about a Sz 14)
Please see me wearing this entire ensemble on picture image #2!
Jacket:
100% wool, light enough for a beautiful flow, super soft luxurious feel-almost like cashmere! Color has been called Loden Green.
Bust: 38"
Waist: 34"
Center front (CF) to bottom of button line is :17"
Center back (CB) to top of rear vent (aka the waist line) is 17"
CB to bottom of back vent: 29"
Sleeve seam (underside) measures 18" to wrist edge of cuff
Pattern is designed to have jacket worn with stays. Wearing without stays will not give the same period correct look.
Working pockets
Completely lined in linen
Jacket is completely handsewn.
I have noticed there are a couple very tiny (pin head) moth marks that are not through the fabric and only seen very close up. I have tried to show them in photos. Additionally there are two lines on right undersleeve of jacket, again, not thru fabric. These small issues do not detract at all from the outfits look or functionality.
Note: Buttonholes are done on machine, buttons are brass (bought from sutler)
Black Waistcoat:
Cotton material
Machine sewn, completely lined, with small 1" repair on top of back neck seam.
Bust: 39"
Waist: 36"
CB to top of back vent 18"
Working pockets, period style self covered buttons with modern shanks
Petticoat:
100% Loden Green super soft wool (same as jacket)
Pleated set in waistband
Cotton woven ties on each side, designed to be a tie in front, then front panel ties wrap around back and back to front to tie thus creating pocket slits on either side over hips.
This makes this petticoat virtually a one size fits all.
Petticoat is versatile and can certainly be worn separately too!
Length is 35 1/2" with length for me (5'6") to be worn with pocket hoop for the most correct period look. Shown with hoop in Photo #2.
Has been hemmed slightly longer on side and back to accept a tie on bum roll, hip roll(s) or pocket hoop/paniers for a period look but can be worn without.
Hem is handsewn, 1/2" so petticoat cannot be "let down" for a taller person, but certainly can be taken up for a shorter person. Petticoat should hit at mid calf for period look.
Collared White Linen Shirt:
This is a modern (Banana Republic) 100% linen button down front shirt that I added nice cotton lace to the cuffs. Size on label is Medium.
Also included as a bonus in this sale:
Long Charcoal
black 100% silk rectangular neck scarf
and vintage linen lace edged neckerchief to give the period look.
Linen "Hair bag"
which I made for my pony tail. Research I had done showed women wearing this to protect long hair when riding/traveling to keep it clean, neat and orderly. It is out of black linen and drawstring just like men wore during the period.
One pair of
black cotton knit stockings
Please review ALL photos to see details and styling. I am sorry the color does not really show up well in photos. It is a deep, muted moss green or Loden Green as it is referred to.
